ABOUT
Hey, Girl, Hey! is an annual event curated for teen girls in the 6th - 12th grade, hosted by The Co-Lab Collective. It is a day full of activities designed to educated girls on effective communication, conflict resolution, selfcare, financial awareness, health, and so much more. This event is full of fun, but there is a big educational component where we take the girls on an excursion.
Over the years we have taken the them on a lunch boat cruise on the Harriott II Riverboat down the Alabama River, to the EJI's Freedom Monument Sculpture Park where they were able to view the beautiful exhibits, slave quarters, and even found their last name on the National Monument of Freedom, The Legacy Museum where they learned about enslavement and mass incarceration, which was a very sobering experience, The Mothers of Gynecology Monument, a monument created by Michelle Browder that is dedicated to Anarcha, Lucy and Betsey, three young black girls, who were used for medical experimentation during the 19th century, and Fresh Greens Market, an urban farm and market located on the westside in Montgomery, AL, whose cofounders are sisters, Erica and Erin Washington. This year we will be making a big splash at Montgomery Whitewater! Activities include rafting, cycling, hiking, zip lining, and a whole lot more!
